Challenge

With the growing amount of content being consumed globally, Deluxe found their workload increasing due to the heightened demand for both new and back catalog streaming. Deluxe were instrumental in supporting the rapid expansion of Disney+ and were providing localisation services to other content providers such as Netflix. With the cinema space also evolving, an increase in mastering and distribution services were also required. This meant they had an amplified demand on their current workforce across the organisation. They were looking to increase headcount exponentially, promptly and above all with quality and consideration in hiring the best people for the roles.

Marketing Campaign

Deluxe is a well-known brand in the film industry, with far-reaching web and social channels promoting their content and services. This works well for their established followers in the industry but due to the volumes of hiring required, we expanded the reach by approaching potential new colleagues from different industries. By widening the criteria, we opened up the talent pool meaning Deluxe had the chance to hire people from outside the industry, bringing different perspectives to the business and their clients.

We identified key companies and candidates within the media industry to engage with, as well as expanding our reach outside of the traditional media outlets to ensure a greater reach for the increased need of hiring.

From our time working with Deluxe previously, Helen had an excellent understanding of the business from an operational perspective. This gave us a headstart when looking to understand the requirements of Deluxe and challenging on what was considered the 'norm' to ensure the increased volume of hiring was met.

Hiring for the long term

Here at Candi, we work with the Hiring and HR teams in partnership. We're able to partner with our hiring managers to guide them in their hiring decisions. When hiring new people, a significant number were made at the top percentile of the job requirements. Meaning new starters knew the role and were already established at the level needed, leaving no space for learning, or longevity in role. With our support, managers altered their approach and started to hire for the long term, reducing attrition and cost to the business. Investing for the future.

The Recruitment Campaigns

We Advertised

Each role we recruited was advertised internally to promote Internal Mobility. We then also advertised on LinkedIn and National and Specialist Job Boards both from within the Industry and beyond.

We Networked and Headhunted

We engaged with our extensive network of Media professionals, alongside identifying new potential talent from the core requirements of the roles. We were also able to identify and contact certain individuals who we were asked to approach, as well as keeping internal applications in the mix.

We shortlisted

We completed a minimum of two stage interviews with every candidate. This was to identify their core skills and ensured they were right to support the business growth required. Deluxe also have a strong focus on customer satisfaction both internally and externally, so we interviewed candidates across these behaviours in our selection process and shared relevant shortlists.

We submitted

Our candidates were submitted via the HRIS system in place for the majority of roles, this ensured each individual went through the same selection criteria. For some sensitive openings, we used our bespoke Candi candidate portal to track progress and provide all the candidates with the best experience.

We Communicated

We outlined the end to end process to every candidate, we contacted them frequently and in a timely way. We kept everyone informed and up to date to ensure a 5 star candidate experience across all roles and levels.

Background:

When the organisation was previously looking to implement an internal recruitment model, Helen joined the business and worked across EMEA to review existing ways of working in recruitment and partnered with the business to grow their teams.

Expansion:

Deluxe were then expanding and looking to recruit again in 2022. The organisation had positive experiences from working with Helen and this, alongside her background in digital media and knowledge of the film industry meant Deluxe chose to engage with Helen and Candi. They were looking for a trusted Partner for the business to increase headcount in a short space of time. All while hiring the best talent in the right way.

Approach:

Following on from an initial conversation with the EMEA HR Director, it became clear that there was an urgent need to support the business with their recruitment to prioritise and hire for several roles. Candi were able to immediately understand the requirements and met with all Hiring Managers and Directors to understand the priorities for each of them.

What was the Outcome? 

Directly partnering with managers across the full recruitment lifecycle meant we hired 17 permanent roles across the organisation to time and budget

Once the business was stable from a Recruitment perspective, we then built on the existing HR team by recruiting an experienced HRBP and internal Talent Acquisition team to ensure success moving forward.

The organisation was then able to deliver content within the agreed timescales which ensured high levels of customer satisfaction
